Atherstone-based TPG Information Systems (TPG IS) Scoops Double Awards for Business Excellence
4 November 2003 at 08:00 CET - Atherstone-based TPG IS – the in-house Information Systems provider for business-to-business carrier TNT Express – has recently scooped two prestigious business excellence awards.
The first – the UK Award for Business Excellence in the “Operational Unit” category – saw TPG IS receive the top award from the British Quality Foundation by beating-off stiff competition from a number of household names and high performing organisations. The second came from TPG IS winning the special prize for People Development and Involvement in the demanding 2003 European Quality Awards (EQA).
This is not the first time TPG IS has won such awards. In 2002, it won the Midlands Excellence Award – also in the “Operational Unit” category.
Winning these awards is one of the highest accolades any organisation can achieve. The process consists of submitting a 75 page document explaining how the Excellence Model is used throughout the organisation across the nine criteria of the model, including Leadership, Policy and Strategy, People, Suppliers, Processes and results for each of the stakeholders.
A team of assessors, who are experienced managers from leading UK organisations, then conduct a rigorous inspection of every aspect of the Company’s Operations to confirm their working practices are as good or better than the document and to determine the final scores. Their recommendations are then made to an independent Awards Jury who select the winners in each category.
Commenting on the awards, Shwan Moubarak, Chief Information Officer, TPG IS, said: “These awards recognise the significant progress we have made in our quality journey and also encourage us in our continuous improvement efforts towards excellence in everything we do. In this way not only do we accelerate our rate of improvement towards excellence, but we gain credible external recognition as a world class provider of IT systems and services which is acknowledged by our customers and stakeholders alike”.
Dennis Beard, Director of IS Services said “Our achievement in winning this award is a result of everybody in TPG IS operating as one team of dedicated, customer focused, IT professionals working week in and week out and performing the occasional miracle to make sure we provide world class systems and service so that TNT Express remains the fastest and most reliable provider of Express delivery services”.
