TNT Post Parcels rolls out 230 handhelds in Belgium

Real-time track and trace and full visibility for customers

5 April 2012 at 11:30 CET - Hoofddorp / Vilvoorde – TNT Post Parcels, part of PostNL Parcels, has completed a major upgrade of its IT environment with the introduction of 230 handheld terminals in Belgium. Thanks to this, customers can now track their parcel online anytime of the day.

With a uniform IT environment in Belgium and the Netherlands, TNT Post Parcels can now operate a platform on which innovative services like Checkout and MijnPakket (MyParcel), both already available in the Netherlands, can gradually be offered in Belgium as well. PostNL Parcels expects that these services will enable it to profit from the growth of the Belgium online market, which amounted to over €1 billion in sales in 2011.

The Belgian online market is growing fast: in 2011 consumer purchases grew by 24% to €1.12 billion. It is expected that fashion, books and consumer electronics will continue to grow. In addition to the growth in Belgium, the amount of online orders in Dutch webshops from Belgian consumers is showing significant growth.

This positions TNT Post Parcels Belgium perfectly to profit from the growth in the Belgium online market.”
