We have received notifications of backlogs in Brazil due to capacity issues at the Brazilian national courier. During the weekend worker unions in Brazil have decided to strike from Monday 12 March onwards. The strike has an undefined period and it is uncertain what the scale of the strike will be. We are in close contact with authorities in Brazil to get a clear assessment of the situation. Currently, we measure up to 25 working days for all flows to Brazil, please be advised that this can increase in the upcoming weeks due to the issues in Brazil. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

French Polynesia

Backlogs to Brazil have been completely resolved since the end of January. Performances in Brazil this year, however, have not met our standards. Currently we are monitoring +5 workdays for tracked products and +8 workdays for untracked products. We are working with our Brazilian partner to return to pre-strike levels as quickly as possible. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

The Bolivian postal activities are currently being transitioned to a new legal entity. The government of Bolivia has notified us that it expects to resume all post related activities from 19 March onwards. Until then, significant delays in traffic can be expected. From the 15th until the 21st of February there will be Chinese New Year and Spring Festival celebrations in China. Local deliveries in China are expected to be delayed during this period due to extreme volume increase. We expect that shortly after the end of the festivities normal delivery times will resume. United States of America

Thirteen states on the east-coast of the United States suffer from heavy snowfall, low temperatures and strong winds due to severe winter weather. This can cause delays as a result of disruptions in local infrastructure and even flight cancellations.

Update 10-01: Due to the heavy winter weather, international airports at New York face major flight cancellations. We expect delays for deliveries to the American East Coast area to sustain for the upcoming week. It’s expected that as soon as flights are back to normal the backlogs that currently arise will be processed quickly. We will inform you when the situation will be back to normal.

Saudi Arabia

Effective 1 January 2018, a value-added tax (VAT) of 5% will be applied to the total value of each individual item entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to be paid by the consignee. This includes, without exception, all commodities being sent to Saudi Arabia, regardless of their purpose.

It is therefore essential that each CN22/23 provide clear and precise details, including the name of the product and the total value under each item. This will help speed up Customs processing. Missing details may cause delays.

The strike that caused the transportation issues to Brazil has ended 9 October. We are currently working with Correios de Brasil to clear the backlogs created by the strike. As they have received increased volumes from destinations worldwide, delays can be expected in the upcoming weeks. We are currently scaling up our capacity on flights to Brazil to aid in the recovery to normal transition times. We will inform you if the situation changes.

We would like to inform you that it’s not possible to send any mail and parcels to Venezuela as the route has been closed off due to the political instability in the country. Currently, we are exploring alternative routes, but advise you not to send any items to Venezuela until further notice.
